It's been about... ahem... two and a half years since Culture Sluts ceased podcasting - hey a lot has happened! And I haven't been completely absent from the podcasting & music & filmmaking buzz either!

But I just wanted to post a message as I have started a new podcast... this time there's really no talk and all music. Basically it's a weekly mixtape of 10 songs that just happen to float my boat that week. It's called Love Action Luvs Friday Mixes! And as the name suggests, it's posted on tinterwebs every Friday morning.

I know Culture Sluts is not a political blog or podcast, but it's one soapbox that I have to stand on, and I feel I've got a few comments I need to get off my chest.

I have personally found myself affected by the goings-on in Lebanon. One of my best friends was there to study and found herself in the middle of conflict. You can read her story here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13862665/

Since she returned home safely to LA, ridden with guilt about the friends and family she left behind, she has been updating her blog regularly. It's definitely worth checking out: http://beirutmonamour.blogspot.com Through some of her posts I came across this cartoonist who is currently in Beirut as well and has updating his blog and his Flickr with his drawings. I cannot help but feel completely sick about what is going on over there. And feel completely helpless, as an American, because my government has decided that they are going to step back from the matter and not help innocent civilians. It's disgusting.

Hey all, the 2006 Darklight Festival is just around the corner - taking place in Temple Bar the weekend of June 22nd!

The ENTIRE event will be recorded and podcast via the Darklight blog. In order for everything to run smoothly I'm looking for a small podcasting army to help out with recording. These would be volunteer positions, but in addition to great podcasting experience, it would give you free entry to the various Darklight Events taking place over the weekend.

He also tells us about the trials and tribulations of his band Sack from being the Irish band during the Brit-pop years to touring with Morrissey over the years.

We end with the Sack song "Climb Mine Powerhouse" from their second album "Butterfly Effect".

We've got a LONG show this week, as we're joined by lovely guests Tim Neosupervital and Fergal O'Byrne.

We start off talking music; different venues around Ireland, from both a musician's and punters viewpoint. Besides being Neosupervital, Tim also discusses being the touring drummer with Bell X1, and we soon move on to the worst album covers in the world.

We recorded CultureSluts podcast #5 last monday (19/09), but unfortunately due to technical difficulties, it has been delayed indefinately :-( Hopefully we'll get it up and working eventually, so you can hear a great cast with our good friend Neosupervital as our Neosuperguest...

At the moment both Steve and I are in the States: San Francisco and New York respectively. While we're here, we plan to squeeze in a few local podcasts to record the local flavour and States-side goings-on.

So sorry for the delays, but keep your eares peeled and your iTunes subscribed.

This week we're joined by guests Nancy Goering and Alex French.

We start off with a review the fabulous Electric Picnic. Alex gives us a review of the Fun Loving Criminals gig at Vicar Street last weekend.

We also discuss The BBC opening their archive to remixers and the effects of widespread digital distribution - podcasts and videocasts both amateur and professional, including YouTube. Is this the way forward for broadcasting?

Favorite website communities are mentioned, including the joys of Craigslist which has finally arrived in Ireland and Flickr for photo sharing.

We end with a comment about Wildlight and The Chalets new single 'Feel the Machine'.
